They have won many of the most prestigious awards available in their industries, and positively impacted hundreds of schools and hundreds of thousands of children and adults in East Africa, and other emerging markets.

    • AvantiBroadband Internet for Edtech, Healthcare, and Community Communications

      Through its  HYLAS satellite fleet and more than 150 partners in 118 countries, Avanti's  network provides ubiquitous broadband internet service to a quarter of the world’s population.

      Avanti is the first mover in high throughput satellite data communications in EMEA. It has three satellites in orbit and a further two fully funded satellites under construction.  Avanti Communications is listed in London on AIM (AVN:LSE)

      Avanti is leading the way in leveraging their broadband coverage to impact education with initiatives totaling £20mn in direct investment from DFID and The UK Space Agency. The  iMlango initiative (in partnership with Whizz Education) brings edtech to over 200 schools in Kenya, and iKnowledge covers a further 250 in Tanzania. 

      Avanti's awards include the Queen's Award for Enterprise, one of the most prestigious awards in UK industry, as well as being named a Superbrand.

    • Access AfyaHealthcare

      Access Afya is a social enterprise creating a model for comprehensive community health. Access Afya's model makes it possible for patients to seek care early by bringing health workers and supplies directly to the community through a chain of affordable micro-clinics and innovative subscription health programs in the field.

      Healthy Schools is Access Afya's flagship field health program. The Healthy Schools program in Nairobi creates and measures vitality for school children and teachers. It leverages schools as hubs to improve the wellbeing of children first and eventually families and communities.

      This program provides a package of health products and services to  children and schools for one fixed term fee. It engages school administration and staff, parents, and students for a comprehensive, integrative approach to health care. Access Afya has worked with over 12,000 patients in Kenya and is expanding.

    • Whizz EducationEdtech

      Whizz Education's multi award winning Maths-Whizz Tutor has been developed in collaboration with  some of the world’s leading education experts over the last ten years.

      Whizz Education's expertise in online adaptive learning promotes higher  standards in maths and enables  educators around the world to experience the impact of this transformative  educational tool. As part of iMlango, Maths-Whizz is currently available in over 200 Kenyan schools.

      In the same way as a human tutor, the Maths-Whizz Tutor adapts to each child’s individual needs and delivers lessons in line with their unique pace of learning. It guides each student through the underlying Maths-Whizz curriculum by providing lessons at the appropriate level of difficulty based upon prior performance. 

    • BBOXXNon-polluting energy: Solar power

      Multi award winning BBOXX is leading The Solar Revolution by offering an on-grid experience in an off-grid world powered through a unique financing model to sell solar systems to the mass market on a monthly payment plan. Currently its distribution to partners in 35 countries and 30 local shops in Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda. It has over 41,000 customers, impacting 205,000 people.

      BBOXX has developed SMART Solar  that enables its  solar products to be controlled and monitored remotely. With SMART Solar, BBOXX can extend the life of the battery, and improve the experience for the user.  SMART Solar enables  superior customer service  based on
      real-time data. The SMART Solar dashboard shows the location of each system up to 1km giving geographical coordinates  to direct service agents.
